The choice of what hamster cage you get your hamster is actually quite a personal decision. However there remain a number of factors that you should consider which are essential for the health and well being of your pet and you should not overlook when making your choice.
The first is easily the most important; security. If you do not choose a secure hamster cage your hamster will be gone before you know it and you will be unlikely to find it ever again. Make sure that the cage is robust and secure.
Secondly, the hamster cage needs to be well ventilated. This is especially the case with modern plastic cages that incorporate tunnels and dens. If you are not careful these can become blocked and you can end up suffocating your animal.
Finally, the hamster cage you choose should have space for your hamster to eat it, sleep in and importantly play in. Hamsters are largely nocturnal animals and although you may think they are sendentary, at night they can be very active and you should try to provide an interesting and spacious play environment.
